The book is about a girl named Shayla who is 12 years old. Shay is very careful to always do the right thing. She is scared of getting in trouble. Shay has two best friends, Julia and Isabella. They call themselves The United Nations, because they are all from different backgrounds but they are all united and do everything together.

Change in Friendship
Suddenly Shay starts feeling The United Nations are drifting apart. She is noticing a lot of changes in their friendship. While Shay is trying to figure out what is going on with The United Nations, she starts learning a lot about the Black Lives Matter movement and what is really going on in the world.
The Movement
Her big sister, Hana, always goes to every protest with her friend. She tries to teach Shayla that the small things you do actually helps a lot with the Black Lives Matter movement. Hana and her friends are always wearing this black armband which is to show an awareness and their support for Black Live Matter.
Shay is learning what it feels to be a Black person in the United States. She is changing her way and willing to take a risk to make changes. The BLM movement brings Shay closer to her sister, Hana, and helps her understand her sister better. Shay eventually learns to stand up for what is right, speak her mind, and advocate for BLM.
