The book Trowbridge Road is about a girl name June-Bug, who was facing the struggle of the loss of her father. The story has many layers such as loss, secrets, friendship, and overcoming fears.

During the early 1980’s, which was when the story took place, there was a rare disease epidemic called AIDS that no one knew much about. Unfortunately, June’s father passed away from this disease. Since then, June’s mother, Angela, became very depressed and paranoid. So much that she has become a germaphobe trying to protect themselves from AIDS.
Trowbridge Road takes us through June’s journey of supporting her mother while trying to be a normal child, which was very difficult. Her mother’s fear and paranoia prevented them from having a normal life.
When June found out that a kid named Ziggy moved into the neighborhood, she took this as a chance to make a friend. There were so many similarities between June and Ziggy which helped them connect. They found comfort with each other and created there own imaginary world where they run away from their sadness.
Excellent summary! It does sound like an extremely sad but important story to tell.
