The Cupcake

When I created this cupcake drawing, it was my first time learning how to shade. At first, I didn't know what shading can do to a drawing.

What is Shading?

Shading is the process of adding value to create the illusion of an object, and most importantly adds light in a drawing. When it is done correctly, shading can make a drawing appear three dimensional. Shading makes the drawing look more realistic. It gives a lot of details. Different pencils gives shading different results.

The process of shading helped my cupcake drawing to come to life. I made the lines on the cupcake wrapper wrinkly and curved to make the drawing more define. The darkness around the edge gave it a 3D finish.
